Low Voltage (LV) Hardware Systems Engineer
Location: UK (Hybrid / On-site as required)
Travel: Onsite testing and customer travel will be required
Role overview:
The Low Voltage Hardware Systems Engineer designs and develops systems controlling hundreds of devices including motors, actuators, sensors, and LEDs across all vehicle functions (seats, doors, HVAC, powertrain, safety, chassis, and lighting).
Owns hardware delivery end-to-end: from requirements, architecture, and design through to simulation, schematics, layout oversight, manufacturing, bring-up, and validation of circuit boards.
What You’ll Do:
- Start-to-finish hardware ownership: Specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematic, layout supervision, manufacturing, bringup, and validation of circuit boards
- Collaborate with PCB layout, firmware, mechanical, program management, and validation teams
- Thoroughly document design requirements, calculations, validation results, etc.
- Rapidly iterate as design requirements and product features mature over time
What You’ll Bring:
- Strong understanding of analog & digital circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, microcontrollers, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, component selection, power dissipation, etc.)
- Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to tackle open-ended challenges using first-principles
- Proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, electronic loads, etc.)
- Experience shipping high-volume circuit boards preferred
- Basic programming ability (Python preferred)
- Knowledge of automotive design requirements preferred
- Design for autonomous vehicles (fail-safe redundancy) preferred
Desirable Experience:
- Experience across full vehicle lifecycle (concept → production)
- Background in EV or hybrid systems (LV support systems)
- Knowledge of simulation and modelling tools
- Previous experience working in agile or fast-paced engineering environments
